In October 1963 a small group of six or eight families totaling approximately 46 people met with Brother Cordell Bales and his family in the San Jacinto Youth Center to form a nucleus of what was later to become Bell Avenue Baptist Church.

Under the sponsorship of Avondale Baptist Church, the Mission met in the facilities of the Seventh Day Adventist Church until the Spring of 1964, moving later that same year to Western Plateau School. Groundbreaking ceremonies were held in the Fall of 1965 and in October 1966 the congregation moved into the present building. On October 27, 1966, the Bell Avenue Baptist Mission was constituted into the Bell Avenue Baptist Church with approximately 202 charter members.

Cordell Bales pastored the church from its inception until March 1969.

Jack Boyett pastored the church from June 1969 until November 1972.

Claud Tugwell, Jr. pastored the church from March 1973 until  December 1995.

Danny Logan has pastored the church since December 1, 1996.

Through its 50 years of ministry, the church has baptized over 750 new believers, ordained dozens for the Gospel ministry, and touched lives with the Gospel around the globe through local, state-wide, North American and international mission trips and offerings.
